Outlining the big picture strategies, she is the driving force behind the company's obsessively detailed logistical charts and calculates spreadsheets until each column has become its own finely-tuned battle plan. Her leadership gives The Spotlight Dinner Theatre and Vocal4Media the bedrock foundation needed to keep a crew of poetic dreamers in line.
Back when the only interaction children had with media was to act as the family’s TV remote, Kathy starred in a CBS nationally syndicated children’s series.
As a ’tween, television producers gave her an unprecedented latitude: researching and writing her own documentary segments . . . A strong start to working as an industry producer!
Her hometown of Houston, Texas provided musical tapestry roots, and she was woven into it as a performer, producer and a promoter before she even hit puberty!
In Sixth Grade at West University Elementary School in Houston, Texas, Kathy stepped into the spotlight in a Talent Showcase to perform "You Light Up My Life."
And it almost didn't happen.
The instrumental recording on the movie soundtrack record used as her background track was the last song - the tech had trouble getting the needle in the right place to start it. She ran off the stage in tears! Mrs. Topolanek, one of the Dram Club sponsors, told her that if she didn't go back out there, she might never go on a stage again. So, she did. And little did she know that this would be the first of many more performances . . .
Previously known by her peers as a Nerd, TV Celebrity, and Student Council President, it became apparent that singing would become her greatest accolade.
At 18, Kathy was hired as a Singing Hostess at Humoreske, a comedy club in Houston, Texas. Her love for stand-up continues to this day as a producer of shows in Tampa Bay.
She also released a single that received airplay on college radio stations, was part of several cover/original bands, performed singing telegrams, and sang in churches. She developed a love of costuming, writing original music, and big hair!
In the late 80s, her first husband's entertainment career led to Branson, Missouri. She performed with a band and took her very young daughter to shows, where she hung out with the kids of the other performers.
Absorbing all of that live music, plus having music in her genes, turned that toddler into a musical prodigy.
And Mom began a new career behind-the-scenes!
Kathy's experience served her well when she became the parent manager—“Momager”—of her oldest daughter’s career. For nearly a decade, she managed that career from the Branson Tourist Strip, through a national Les Miserables tour, throughout Tampa Bay, and all the way to New York City.
Kathy’s business acumen opened doors for the child to headline her own show at a world-famous cabaret, gain national exposure with winning appearances on "Showtime at the Apollo," get two top Five singles on the Billboard charts, and sign a record deal . . . all by age 15. These are difficult enough feats for a seasoned agent, but for a self-taught Personal Manager to achieve client success at the center of that cut-throat New York scene is remarkable.
This calculated management involved cultivating an artist’s image, creative product, promotion, logistics, networking, and contract negotiations. It allowed Kathy to hone her abilities for multi-tasking, project management, and discerning when to approach business dealings from a conventional or unconventional standpoint.
Her love of singing “music with a message” finds its outlet as her onstage persona, KathySings4u. She is a powerhouse vocalist, whose caring radiates from the heart, with undeniable sincerity.
Kathy's passion for orchestrating sparkling events has flourished during decades of staging live shows, parties, and fundraisers. These small and large scale events earned her the respect of entertainment and not-for-profit sector professionals in Branson, Houston, New York, and throughout Tampa Bay. In 2025-2026, her company plans to begin booking outside of Florida.
Kathy’s superpowers include introducing clients to her carefully networked business contacts, scouring lists of local organizations to find synergistic partnerships, and brainstorming how to get all the necessary people, places, and objects together with maximum efficiency.
